Computing Knowledge by the end of Key Stage 1

During Key Stage 1 pupils explore ICT and learn to use it confidently and with purpose to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content to achieve specific outcomes. They start to use ICT to develop their ideas and record their creative work. They become familiar with hardware and software. They understand what algorithms are and how they are implemented on programmes on digital devices and that programmes execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions. They learn to use logical reasoning to predict the beahviour of simple programs. They learn to recognise common uses of information technology beyond school.

They learn to use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private ; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies.
