Termly Class letter.

Dear Parents/Carers,

This term Class Three will be learning about living things and their habitats in Science and this learning will continue during Forest School. This also links well with the topic of ‘out and about’ on our island for Geography. We have the stage set up in class and will be learning and re-enacting the story of The Gruffalo.  Year 2 will cover a range of genres including instructional writing, recounts, stories, letters (including postcards) and poetry. In RE we are learning about special religious places and their uses in the community and will be having a pretend Baptism and hopefully a visit to the church or chapel. Maths is place value and ordering numbers up to 100 for Year 1 and up to 20 for Reception Children. Year 2 will be covering place value and the number system, calculation strategies, fractions, shape and measures and statistics.

Next term in science will be looking at materials. In topic we will be learning about the Great Fire of London and making mini houses. During Literacy, the Year 1 & Year R children will learn the story of the Three Little Pigs. We will investigate the materials that the Three Little Pigs used and which materials are best to build a strong house. During Literacy Year One children will be writing a recount of the Great Fire of London and also thinking of their own character to replace the Big Bad Wolf in the Three Little Pigs Story. RE will be stories from the Bible and ‘how the bible is special to Christians.’ Maths will continue ordering numbers to 20/100 and also involve statistics and multiplication.

We look forward to another fun term!

Yours sincerely,

The Class 3 Team
